Kindle Fire review

My Hubby bought me a Kindle Fire for Christmas and I wanted to share my impressions. First off, I was very resistant to the idea because I am a "book person" I love everything about a book-holding it, the way it feels in my hand, the smell, the "snick"sound of turning pages..BUT, I keep most of the books I buy as many of them are books in a series or I just like them enough to read over. That means I had 3 bookshelves 2 and 3 rows deep full of books, so Hubby thought it was time to condense.

First off, I like the size and weight of the device. The screen is large enough to read most typeface in books, however for webpages or magazines, I find it a bit small.

Memory wise it holds 5,000 books which is way more than I will ever use, so that's great. I have 4 or 5 applications stored which don't take up much of the memory as well.

The fonts are sharp and easy to read, and you can change the book pages margins, font, and background color.

What I do find a bit annoying is that there is no way to organize your books into "collections"on the Fire like you can with other Kindle models. Books are sorted by author, title and recent but when the bookshelf only shows 9 books at a time it can take forever to page through the books to find what you are looking for.

Otherwise, charge time is quick, and seems to last for quite a while before needing another.

All in all, being primarily a "Book" person I find I do like the Kindle and would recommend it to others.

Minecraft,my son's obsession..

In case you haven't heard of Minecraft, it is a 3D building type game where you can build whatever you can think of using just blocks. There is also a "survival mode" to the game where you build a house, look for resources such as wood, iron, coal and such. Monsters come out at night so you need to make a shelter and some weapons.

DS loves it because it's like a virtual Lego program.

So, for Halloween this past year he was a creeper from Minecraft and we made the costume out of boxes and took hours pasting construction paper squares on it.

Lucy and the BEE!

We have so much fun watching our 5 year old Australian Shepherd Lucy play with my son's RC helicopter. She jumps at it, growls and barks, yet never really gets too close. I think she's afraid of getting bonked in the nose. :-) I'm amazed at how close she gets tho..Round ONE!

Round two:

And..she catches it!! Hehe
Way cute!! My son just laughs and laughs when he watches her.
